Under Construction (Again!)

It’s been some time since we’ve posted an update to the site, its not because we haven’t been doing anything. We had hoped to had the new version of the site live by christmas, but in our quest for perfection we still haven’t reached a point where we are willing to share.

In the mean time, go check out one of our newest projects Aztez.

Additionally we have posted the intro video to one of our newer games, Flight of the Kelvins, to Vimeo to show off the outstanding work being done on it; a game play video is sure to follow as well.

We’re working really hard to start growing the company this year, so stay tuned.

MonoDevelop.Unity

During our time between projects, we all went off to do our own things. Some of us worked on movies, others worked on getting in shape, and some of us spent our time working on toolsets to help with our next game, and some spent time on the website (a little bit). One of those tools was an Add-In for the cross-platform MonoDevelop, which brought some of the features and integration points we wanted while developing in it.

We’ve released the Add-In to the public via a custom Add-In repository, so that automatic updating will work with it as well. You can grab the instructions for how to install it from our Wiki. The full source is also available over at GitHub.

We hope that the community will help expand on its current feature set, and make it something for everyone to use.

In With The New! Out With The Old!

While we are not finished with the site yet, we have finished our initial migration over to our new hosting solution provided by the wonderfully talented folks at Media Temple. There is lots of new stuff coming down the pipes, it’s just a matter of finding the time.

We’re wrapping up our end of june ‘back from vacation’ list and will be starting to map out our next 6 months.

Perfectionism, Sucks!

It’s always easier to work on client work, as there is a certain separation between it and us. Now don’t get me wrong, we still try to connect with our clients and strive to achieve what they want, and more.

I’m specifically focusing on the sheer amount of time that we are dumping into cleaning up the website and trying to make it more worthy of our company per say. Every little detail gets looked at and thought about for not just minutes, hours, different approaches are mocked up, different color schemes tried. It’s really ridiculous how much time has been spent (over our vacations) on the site. I guess in the end it’s worth it to have a nice and functional site that we do not have to constantly think about having to fix up; oh wait! That has been our site for the last three years!

For a long time we have been using the Aptana Cloud service to host our web properties. After much debate over the last six months we’ve decided that once the website is finished being tweaked we will be moving our properties over to Media Temple. They are one of the top tier webhosting companies available online, and as such we will be hoping to push their services to our customers as well. It should be a fun challenge to migrate our systems to their virtualized systems, but we feel its an important move in maintaining reliability and efficiency.

Divisions On The Horizon

We’ve been hard at work for the last while working on some fun and creative things. Expect to see some interesting happenings around the website. First and foremost is the upcoming divide of the company’s identity into a corporate centric group, as well as a gaming centric group.

This should allow us to target individual market needs, while still maintaining the appropriate image required. So in non-marketing terminology language, it just means that we will be trying to adjust what we are doing to be more tailored for our clients. The website is getting a revamp, with the idea of identifying our corporate wing as a consulting agency. Whereas our gaming division is about creating games, whether they are for a client or an internal project.
